About Open Enrollment/School Choice

The District provides School Choice through an Open Enrollment policy offering parents/guardians an opportunity to apply to a school other than their School of Residence. Approval of an Open Enrollment Application is based on space availability at the school of choice.

All District schools offer an educational program designed to prepare all students for college and careers in the 21st Century through the Common Core State Standards with emphasis on communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, character, and citizenship (global).

Some schools offer the educational program through a specialized theme or instructional design. Specialized themes or instructional designs offered in District schools include International Baccalaureate (IB), Dual Language Immersion, the Arts through Artful Learning, Environmental Sciences and Culinary Arts, Waldorf, and the New Technology School Model.

Open Enrollment Applications for 2018-19 (TK-12) must be submitted online October 2, 2017 - December 15, 2017. Notifications will be sent January 22, 2018, by email and parent dashboard message.

The District provides bus transportation only for students who reside beyond designated walking distances within established school attendance areas. The parent/guardian of a successful open enrollment applicant must provide transportation to and from their open enrolled school of choice.
